Canon introduces EOS-1D Mark IV digital SLR camera


Digital camera technology seems to be advancing drastically and in a faster pace. Canon U.S.A. plans to unleash their 16MP EOS-1D Mark IV digital SLR camera with CMOS sensor, 14-bit A/D data conversion and Dual Digic 4 imaging processors by the end of this year.

The Mark IV’s CMOS sensor incorporates photodiode construction and gapless microlenses technology that enhances dynamic range and supports efficient light gathering, respectively. The color filter array is attributed with better transmissive capabilities for better sensitivity. The Dual Digic 4 image processors offer higher processing powers to render full 14-bit A/D conversion at the rate of 10 frames per second. This camera allows user to choose from three RAW shooting modes as well as three JPEG recording formats.

The SLR device can shoot within a huge speed settings ranging from 100 to 12,800 in ½ or optionally, 1/3 stop increments and still produce impressive low-noise quality images. The High ISO Noise Reduction and ISO Expansion enable HD captures in 1080p resolutions in any kind of light setting. With the APS-H-sized sensor and full manual control, users can select from a number of frame rate settings. The camera boasts of integrated zoom lens, macro, Fisheye and Tilt-Shift optics that permit shooting in full HD, HD as well as SD modes at resolutions of 1080p, 720p and 59.94p, respectively.

The camera comes with video editing tool permits the removal of unwanted starting or ending video clips which helps in speeding up post production. The 45-point AF sensor has 39 high-precision cross-type AF points and an Al Servo II AF mode that renders good quality images of fast-moving objects too. Photographers can access Ethernet and IEEE802.11a/b/g connectivity with the device’s WTF-E2 II A wireless transmitter. Its Auto Light Optimizer adjusts the brightness and contrast during in-camera image processing itself.

Additionally, the EOS-1D Mark IV boasts of a 3 inch Clear View II LCD with VGA resolution and a 160-degree viewing angle. This weather–resistant contraption is crafted with 76 gaskets and seals enveloping all the buttons and seams for resilience. The Camera Linking property enables photographers to work with up to ten cameras by controlling it remotely via the new WTF Server mode.

With the estimated retail price of $4,999, 1D Mark IV is targetted for professional photographers that relies a lot on the camera to ensure a quality images.
