I still remember about 14 years ago when I bought my first G-Shock, the Mudman if I remember correctly. The popularity of G-Shock watches by Casio started among my high school mates after it came into picture in the movie starred by Keanu Reeves when the G-7500 worn by him in the movie. And the popularity cotinues in battle ground after it was used by NATO and US Army during wars.

Today, G-Shock’s durability and toughness has been expanded to other digital gadget. Casio America has recently unveiled its new EX-G1 digital camera which carry Casio’s endurance-minded features within a smartly functional and shock-resistant body.

Beyond the promise of Casio’s rugged and robust design, the EX-G1 is just 0.78 inches thick and certainly no slouch where technical specifications are concerned, thanks to a 12.1 mega pixel sensor, a 2.5-inch LCD screen, a 3x optical zoom, and the added benefit of various shoot modes and multi-image capturing.

“Whether it is the lifestyle that you have chosen or your career path that requires you to carry a camera tough enough to endure life’s elements, the EXILIM EX-G1 offers an endurance level that will withstand the demands of your daily routine,” enthused Toshi Iguchi, senior general manager of Casio’s Digital Imaging Division.

“The EX-G1, Casio’s toughest camera to date, is a prime example of Casio’s constant devotion to creating cameras to accommodate all levels of photographers,” he added.

Not only offering the peace of mind of Casio’s famed shock protection technology (up to a height of around seven feet), budding tomb looters and wreck divers will be thrilled to learn that the EX-G1 is also dustproof and waterproof to a depth of 10 metres for up to an hour.

Available in colour choices of black and red, the Exilim EX-G1 will be attached to a price tag of $299.99 USD when it arrives in December as the perfect stocking filler for tech lovers.
