Gadgets not only serve as entertainment tool but also keeps us safe and sound. Verilux has came up with a pocket-sized germ eliminating light which not only detects but kills germs at the same time.
Ultraviolet (UV) light allows you to see germs UV-C light lets you kill them. Product with UV lights are frequently described as employing the similar technology used by Gill Grissom’s team in CSI to see micro-organisms. Likewise, UV-C lights are said to adopt the same technology hospitals use to sterilize equipment.
The Verilux germ eliminating light is so small and can fit into almost anywhere and very suitable for traveller. At 4 1/2″ x 1 2/3″ x 1″ and packing a rechargeable 2-hour battery, the light emitted by the unit covers a small surface area but have the same take-down power to a bigger unit.
Just hold it about 7cm above a seat, kitchen floor or hotel mattress for 20 seconds and the germicidal UV-C light will start scanning for germs.
The best thing about this gadget, though, is its whimsical design. At the touch of a button, the plastic strip with the embedded UV-C light clicks out of the unit like a switchblade. Which is also handy, because if you’re going to render germs infertile and destroy their DNA, you might as well intimidate them first.
