Bar Codes For Mobile Phones
Bar codes has become a trend. For decades, manufacturers and retailers have used the pattern of black lines to encode pricing and other data onto their products.
But today, bar codes are not only used in tagging merchandise, but also as a way for mobile phone users to get coupons, view ads and other information quickly.
One one the example of bar codes application in mobile phones is maps delivery and weather notifications. Universal Pictures also use bar codes to promote its coming thriller Repo Men. Later this month, The Hearst magazine will use the same technology to provide additional information to its readers. Mobile bar code technology in many forms has also recently been used by search engine Google and Yahoo.
But in Japan, this technology has been in used for years. Advertisers have been using bar codes on magazines, products, posters, business card as well as tourist sites to deliver information wirelessly.
