My first digital compact was Sony Cybershot DSC-P9. It sports a 4-
megapixel CCD with a 3x optical zoom. It was 8 years back. These days,
a 4-megapixel camera is relatively obsolete as a minimum megapixel for today’s digital compact camera is 7-megapixel.
Sony has never failed to impress us with their cameras design. Even after I have embraced to Digital SLR, I still feel that Sony is still one of the
best digital compacts manufacturer.
Its latest member in the T-Series family, the DSC-TX5 is a real piece of art combined with technology. But most importantly, it’s ability to take photos underwater up to 10 feet depth is truely amazing. This is because a normal camera needs waterproof casing before you can bring it while snorkeling or other watersports activities.
It comes with 10.2-megapixel, which is a double more that what I had on my P9. It also incorporates a 3-inch LCD, enough for you to preview those shots taken by you. Another great feature of this camera is it’s 25mm wide-angle lens and 4x optical zoom, allowing you to capture underwater world.
And if you’re worry about the durability, I guess its ability to withstand a drop from a 5-foot height and survive at temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit (-10 Celcius), suffice to give you a total assurance.
The Sony TX5 is expected to hit the market this coming April with a price tag of $350. It may be worth it to wait for a month or so for this gadget if you’re looking for a digital compact.
