GPS Helps Recover Stolen iPhone

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite based service that helps us to determine our location, as a navigation device to guide you while on the road and also to locate your vehicles, whether in fleet management or your own personal car.

But the recent news about a 28-year old Tiernan Paine who accidentally left his iPhone in his unlocked car at Oak Creek last Thursday really proved GPS efficiency in helping people locating their belongings.

Fortunately, he happened to be a subscriber to MobileMe, a service that synchronizes data between his iPhone and his personal home computer. What’s more, the service includes a GPS service as well.

With the help of technology, he was able to pinpoint his phone’s location and amazingly, he saw a picture of suspect’s home. He then brought the evidence to the Oak Creek police. The next day he got his phone back and according to police source, the suspect confessed to about six thefts from parked cars in the vicinity.
