Do You Poken?

Technology has revolutionized a lot of things, which includes how we socialized. Take the social networking sites for instance, in a positive perspective, it really helps people to find long lost buddies. I have an old friend whom I haven’t met for ages (since 1991), and we were reunited in Facebook. Amazing isn’t it?.

I also still remember how I used to exchange business card with someone that I have just met in a conference but only to realize that I have misplaced the card that he just given me. The physical name cards are also prone to water damage.

But this issue has been addressed accordingly with the use of Poken – a gadget that uses a Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to allow the exchange of data including online social network between two token alike device.

By touching the two poken together, a unique ID is exchanged that links to contact information on the Poken website. All the information collected by Poken can be uploaded to the Poken website using a built-in USB interface.

Poken is available in a few types. PokenSPARK allow you to express yourself with 18 different colours with cartoon characters designed and suitable for yuppies. PokenPULSE looks more elegant and exclusive with 2GB thumbdrive storage – suitable for senior executives.

In addition to standard contact information such as phone number and email, Poken allows its users to link their social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, eliminating the needs to ask the person his social networks name to be added.

Poken is available through a network of resellers and online stores in over 40 countries. It is yet to widespread, but I strongly believe in 1 year it will be adopted in more countries.
