Sharp, a Japanese based technology company has moved forward a step further than its competitor by introducing its mobile phones concept which capable of delivering 3D images without the need of 3D glasses that commonly used when watching 3D movies in the cinemas.
According to Sharp, the phone will be available on the shelves of mobile phone stores after been working on it for the past 10 years. The working unit was demonstrated over the weekend. It does not require the 3D glasses because the screen displays different images to both eyes using a technology called ‘Parallax Barrier’.
There are also rumours that the phone will also be incorporated into mobile gaming console such as the Nintendo 3DS. A new technique called CG-Silicon is used to make the screens, which is an LCD process which allows the screen to change faster than normal silicon.
The new LCD module will have the same thickness as conventional 2D displays. The 3D images can be displayed in both potrait and landscape as well, making it easy to be viewed.
