Some years back, I was in Singapore on an assignment. I booked a cab to a client’s office and as I board the yellow colored cabby, I realized something odd about the car. Something on the dashboard caught my attention. Ther was a small screen which showed the front and rear view of the car.
I asked the cab driver the reason he installed those gadgets. According to him, he was once involved in an accident which caused by the other party, but because how can’t prove his innocence, he lost the case. He then took the initiative to install a device that works as a ‘black box’ in his car.
And just recently, I came across this gadget which has the similar function – to record your vehicle journey. The camera called the Dash Cam Dually comes with dual built-in camera to capture the front view of your car and also inside your car and save it into SD Card.
Developed by Spygadgets, the 1.3-megapixel camera can be mounted on your windscreen just like your GPS navigation system. It has 4 Infrared LEDs to illuminate the interior of the vehicle so it can capture video during the night, a technology that has been used by Sony in it’s NightVision mode to record video in a low light or totally dark condition.
It also incorporates a GPS receiver that logs your vehicle’s speed, current location and direction. Other features include compass, an integrated Google Map window, a G-sensor that could detect multiple impact points.
To me, this gadget does not only work as your witness during unforeseeable events but also a perfect gadget to monitor your teenagers driving habit. The gadget can be your ‘eyes’ and ‘ears’ when they’re driving alone. For more info, you may check out Spygadget’s site.
