Korean based electronics maker, Samsung has announced their partnership with Microsoft last Tuesday to apply Microsoft’s PlayReady DRM, a Digital Rights Management technology on their wide range products including mobile phones, digital multimedia players and televisions.
The migration from Windows Media DRM to PlayReady DRM across its infotainment and communications platforms worldwide by 2012. PlayReady is the latest DRM solution from Microsoft that integrated with Windows 7 operating system. PlayReady could protect SilverLight 2-based online content, which can be licensed for applications, client devices as well as servers.
The implementation of this technology is to protect intelectual properties (IP), especially virtual content, allowing its accessibility on a range of devices from the cloud. The content owner will have a peace of mind while consumers able to enjoy seamless entertainment experiences.
