I have a buddy who used to live in UK, particularly in Birmingham. After we finished our bachelor’s degree, he stayed for a few more years to further his master degree and stayed there after securing a job with a local company.
Although we were separated thousand of miles away, we always talk to each other, not only via Skype, but also using a normal phone. Thanks to the non-geographical numbers (NGN) service offered in the United Kingdom.
If you’ve never heard of the NGN, they are actually telephone numbers available for private sale which are not assigned to a conventional telephone line and the contact number gives no indication of the geographical location of the line being called.
This service allows you to sort of redirect the NGN to other telephone number including mobile and international numbers at any time which gives you convenience to take your calls while going overseas or at different locations at different times.
The NGN has different prefixes including 0842, 0843, 0844 and 0845. The prefix numbers will determine the call rates. In other words, there could be a different in call charges when you call 0845 numbers and 0842 numbers.
All in all, I would say the NGN is very useful especially for those who heavily travels. It benefits both parties, the caller will be charged at a lower rate while there is no cost that you have to bear at all.
P/s: Happy Mother’s Day to the wonderful women who make this world go round, especially to my wife, my mother and my mother-in-law. You guys awesome!.
