Motorola’s 2GHz Smartphone

The announcement of iPhone 4 by Steve Jobs recently has been a huge slap in the face for cellular phone makers around the world. In response to the latest family member in iPhone, Motorola have come up with a plan to introduce a 2GHz smartphone by the end of this year.

The Chief Executive Officer of Motorola’s Consumer Business and Mobile Devices division, Sanjay Jha, predicted that in the next couple of years, most big companies will issue smartphones instead of notebooks to their staffs. Thus, a faster speed of processor is required for the next generation of mobile phones to run tasks that currently being handled by notebooks.

As a comparison, the latest iPhone features a 1GHz A4 processor. So the decision to introduce a 2GHz mobile phone processor is just at the right time. But Motorola needs to carefully choose their marketing approaches to ensure they become a threat to the iPhone 4.

I will update with the specification details of the upcoming Motorola’s smartphone as soon as I have it. So for Motorola lovers out there, stay tune! :)
