It has been a while since the last time I had a Nokia phone. My last Nokia was the E90, which is considered as a business mobile phone with plenty of business apps inside. Since I embraced to Blackberry, I seldom check on Nokia’s latest development. A few days back I was a bit surprised to see the new phone from Nokia, the X5-01. The phone shape is almost square with a QWERTY keyboard that can be concealed by sliding it in when not in use. I must admit that I particularly hate square shape phone, but Nokia has the history of shaping the phone into square shape quite some time ago, but it fails. Perhaps Nokia still believe that they could catch their fans’ attention with some changes in term of specifications.
With the dimension of 74 x 66 x 17mm, the X5-01 is relatively wider than a normal cellphone. But this has allow for a 2.36″ display with a 320 x 240 pixel mounted in landscape mode, which give you a better web browsing experience. Besides, the combination of QWERTY keyboard and wide display makes sending text messages and email much easier and comfortable.
Mainly targeted at youngsters, the phone supports most media formats and comes with an FM radio as well as a 3.5mm audio connector so you can easily plugged it into speakers. You may find a unique feature in this phone, called ‘spin the phone’ to select random music track. As Internet is widely used from mobile phones these days, the X5-01 also supports social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
