Samsung has been known as one of the main player in CE or Consumer Electronics world. From mobile phones to home entertainment system, the Korean based company has successfully penetrated global market including USA, something that can be proud of because not many Asian company could fulfill Americans quality expectation.
A couple of years back, Samsung has taken an initiative to simplify its TV models. The has introduced the the use of ‘Series’ (just like 3-Series, 5-Series in BMW), to categorize a similar range of products. Although it is somehow confusing because Samsung has the same series in its different types of HDTVs; CCFL-backlit LCD, LED-backlit LCD as well as Plasma.
To avoid confusion, we will review the latest Series 5 LCD TV from Samsung LA40C550J1M (moving forward, we will refer it as C550). The letter ‘C’ in this model number indicates Samsung’s 3rd Series 5 generation. With a display area of 40-inch, the Series 5 LCD TV extends a full-HD panel, baisc suite of multimedia support and Digital Tuner. It supports different types of connectors inclyuding HDMI, USB, Composite, VGA, LAN and Optical Out.
Being categorized in the middle of Samsung’s LCD series, it is quite clear why the C550 is missing some of high end features like Ultra Clear panels, Internet TV or 3D capabilities. Thus, this particular model is suitable for those who has a limited budget but looking for a Full-HD TV set with fairly decent features.
