It was quite surprising when the United Arab Emirates decided to suspend all Blackberry services with effect from 11th October this year. While information security is the major reason being cited by UAE for this action, especially on data encyrption, they have not denied the fact that this can be resolved if Research in Motion (RIM) take the necessary measures to address this issue, this includes having a server in the land of oil and honey.
I guess RIM should take this seriously and start taking the necessary action or else, million of Blackberry users will be stranded without their push mail and BBM services. UAE has many millionaires and billionaires and I believe quite a number of them are Blackberry subscribers. Do you think they can afford to have their Blackberries disconnected?
