Sony’s Latest Digital Gadgets

As a pioneer in consumer electronics (CE), Sony has no choice but to continuously come up with their gadgets to ensure their position in the digital world. Later this year, Sony will be launching their latest smartphone and a device that looks like a tablet.

Users can enjoy PlayStation games on the smartphone, while the tablet device will combine a netbook, e-reader and PlayStation Portable, according to industry analysts. The device is intended to compete with Apple iPad and an expected storm of similar devices from other digital gadget manufacturers. Both products are expected to hit the market this year, but the retail price is yet to be announced.

In another development, Sony has announced it’s digital download service called Qriocity as a rival to iTunes. TV shows, movies and other entertainment media will be available for download. These new devices are designed to work with the service.

We’ll just need to wait for these gadgets to be released before we could justify whether this device is a real threat to Apple’s iPad.

What To Expect In iPhone 4G?

The iPhone craze is not yet over. In fact, Apple fans’ attention is now drawn to the anticipated release of iPhone 4G. Based on Apple’s prior designs of gadget facelift plus the hardware unveiled in the iPad, we have listed some of things that we can expect from the iPhone 4G, which is believe to be launched sometime in coming summer.

A New Processor

Apple will likely to change their processor, and its new A4 chip could be installed into their next generation iPhone. The 1GHz processor for iPad will likely be clocked down to around 600MHz to suit the ample use of a phone. Since iPhone is not as multitasking as the iPad, it will be overkilled to use such processor for a phone. Besides, power consumption will be an issue if they continue using a faster processor for the phone, which will just kill users’ interest.

Redesigned Aluminum Body

Since the creation of iPods, Apple’s next design is actually quite predictable. The iPhone 3G embodied the total design change while keeping the hardware specification almost unchanged. A year later, the 3Gs were introduced, with a minor upgrade in performance with its faster CPU and graphics processor. The 4G’s new processor will be used to get it slimmer and sleeker design.

OLED Screen

A lot of manufacturers has embraced to OLED technology for their mobile gadgets display. OLED is just perfect for iPhone 4G’s display. Although the current OLEDs can be a bit difficult to view in direct sunlight, Samsung has came up with the first display with its latest Super AM-OLED screen that are 25% brighter and will be the final solution for daylight use. Samsung has been a main supplier for Apple in the past few years and may be interested to introduced their latest display technology on iPhone 4G.

Acer 3D Projectors For Home Entertainment

The 3D technology is not just a hype. And if you think the technology is just for TV, think again. The latest 3D projectors from Acer is a mind blowing innovation which give an eye-trickery deep 3D view.

The projectors combines DLP chips and high refresh rates to ensure that they can give a real 3D experience. DLP or Digital Light Processing is a technology used in TVs as well as video projectors that uses tiny mirros which flips and moves to reflect the light out onto a screen.

Acer’s entry level 3D projector, X1261 comes with composite and S-video with similar video specs with the high-end H5360 featuring 720p high definition (HD) and HDMI with 120Hz refresh rate, making both projectors ‘3D Ready’.

But to be able to watch 3D movies, you will need an extra device – NVIDIA 3-D Vision, a 3-in-1 3D tool which combines spectacles, a computer and a compatible graphics card. The actual 3D processing is done by this hardware and syncs with the projector in order to send the right image to the right eye.

However, without the trick by the projectors, you won’t be able to enjoy the 3D watching experience. The projectors flip the tiny mirrors fast and accurately enough to keep up with the shutter glasses that make sure your eyes are seeing different things.
